Default Let people display titles their other characters have earned

With the number of people wanting various display only (any title with no gameplay effect) made account title and other people saying you should work for them, how about this compromise:

When you earn a title on one character you can then display it while playing your other characters. However any gameplay effect provided by the title (eg lightbringer) won't be carried over and the title will also show the name and class of the character you possess the title on. Eg: My Monk ({name}) has Protector of Cantha

Naturally if you delete the character with the title, you lose the ability to display it on your other characters.

Hey, my Necromancer is a Protector of Tyria, Cantha, and Elona! That means I can Monk very well! Right? Right!?!

Wrong.

No. But it does mean that you know your way around the mission as you have played through it before.

Silly idea really. This is just another way of saying "make all titles account based."

but i'm curious? Y not make all titles account based...

I mean charcs are a form work input that u hve put into the game.
doesn't make sense to do protectors of tyria / cantha / elona for all 10 charc+ juz coz u want a KoaBD title for all ur charc.

I mean, its not like as if ur account is shared
e.g. Dad plays warrior, Mom plays monk, Sis plays Ranger, Bro plays Dervish, You play Necro, blah blah...

I prefer the titles to be account based, so that i can save records of what I've done, and not what i've done with this particular charc

Titles are a display of your ability to play your character. Having Protector of X on one character doesn't make you a "Veteran" on that campaign when playing another character.

I think the whole idea of titles is to have somethign to do once you have reached level 20 and been through the game, its like goign through on a harder setting, yes you can complete the game but not master the missions, so they put up a title on individual characters that means you have t get all those bonus missions and master them, it encourages better play on those characters

You can go through each continent and not uncover the whole map, so say you have got your protector title, what can you do? Obviously spend hours goign round uncovering the rest of the map. The same holds true for wisdom and treasure hunter, once you have these easy titles you can then spend ages going through maps hunting chests and golds, elites are the same,

All these titles are charater specific, designed to make you use those characters once completion of the game has been achieved, some now have benefits to them. PVP titles are designed to be shown across account because PVP characters tend to be deleted, so that you can play with different professions as you want. Making the character titles either account based or havign it possible to show them across characters is counterproductive, and to me is irrational, Just because you can play your Monk to the highest level and have maxd out half a dozen titles does not mean you can play a warrior to that level, and being able to say my monk has survivor does not make your level 5 warrior capable of it, or capaple of mastering the missions

sorry /notsigned

The titles are for the accomplishments the character has achieved, not the player. It's true that the character could not have achieved these accomplishments without the player, but it's also true that the player may not have been able to achieve these same accomplishments with another character.

I'm a fantastic Ele, and some of the titles my Ele is able to display reflects the experience I've garnered on her. The same is not true of my Warrior, which I pretty much suck at. And that is, appropriately, reflected in the lack of titles he is able to display. That's a good thing, as I actively profile when searching for party members for especially hard missions. I don't want to be fooled into thinking that some warrior with a Guardian title just capped Obsi Flesh or Glad's defense just 20 minutes ago and now here he is, ready to learn the ropes of tanking on a hi level mission.

Why would you want to diminish Protector, KoaBD, and other titles by being able to slap them on a lvl 1 character anyway?

That would just be like making all the titles Account wide.

There are some character-based titles that should be account wide, but not all.

Well, I would /sign this for some titles, but not all.

I would like to see the koabd title track become like this, that once you achieve a rank on one char, you can show it on another. Im nearly at PKM on my primary elly, but I love my monk a lot more and would like to show this title on him too.

PVE titles dont mean anything about skill. Having three protectors on a Mending/Healing breeze wammo doesnt exactly mean you can play a warrior well at all, as it is also possible to get these titles on a monk by just playing woh monk throughout the whole game if the rest of your party is good, which really doesnt make you a skilled monk at all.

PVE titles are really just grinding for show, If you have spent a lot of time grinding a prestigious tile like koabd/PKM/IVI, you would realise that it would be too painful to do it all again on another character.

So /signed to making koabd an account title.

Really? I went through all of NF on my elementalist gaining a masters on every mission except 2 of them on the first attempt. And right now I am able to do the same on my monk, but got bored of repeating the same missions again so havnt completed them all yet.

The only titles that show your ability to play the game are PVP ones. PVE titles do not reflect skill in any way at all. e.g. Oh, I spent 2 million gold on maxing my Sweet Tooth title... That makes me leet at playing this character because he now has tooth decay.

I lol'd xD

I don't particularly agree with you there though, I think a few pve titles do show skill. Of course sweet tooth is just a name under your character and nothing more than a gold sink that does nothing and is for the rich that like clicking on virtual candy in their inventory over and over again. But Legendary survivor? Fastest way to that I know is capping a hell of a lot of elites- and thats one thing, but killing bosses after bosses without allowing yourself to screw up just once, at least to me, is pretty skillful.

Either that or they had one hell of a power leveller, then again, I don't assume every player with Legendary Survivor has gained it this way and It'd be pretty wrong of me to do so.

I think to an extent Protector titles can show skill, but I also see where your coming from, it shows perseverance moreso than anything else I guess but thats certainly no bad thing. Then again, I also managed to get 18/20 masters on first try, which was with my elementalist, (yay for guildys ) Which wasn't particularly what I aimed for, But thats pretty much cos I tend to rush through the campaign after I've completed it with another character already.

edit: <3 those 3 am spelling errors ¬.¬
